About the Gaffer Baron / Allan L. Baron

 

Lighting Director / Gaffer

Allan's business and reputation have grown over the past 30 years as he has applied his lighting, gaffing and grip, managerial and administrative skills to a variety of projects. These have included theatrical films, national and local television commercials, television programming, community and high school theater, corporate videos, music videos, sales and promotional videos, industrial films and videos and multiple special events and productions.

Allan has met all production needs as an experienced gaffer whose skills include electrical tie-in, lighting design, lighting execution and rigging of lights. He has assisted in the design of and/or built sets and special production equipment.

A gaffer and lighting director since 1975, Allan has also functioned as a production manager, scheduling both equipment and crews for numerous projects. Work has included a wide variety of challenging production locations and settings with a number of leading producers. He continues to enjoy meeting the many challenges of the film, video and special events industries.

Lighting Design

The Gaffer Baron and his experienced crews have worked with directors of photography from around the world in a variety of settings to achieve lighting design and rigging most effective for the particular subject. In many situations Allan has been required to light on his own either for film, video or stage.

Having served as lighting director/technical director for Haverford High School's drama program for 9 years, for the past 4 years Allan has been lighting director for the Narberth Community Theater.

Power for Events

The Gaffer Baron, Ltd., has provided power and distribution to hundreds of special events from weddings to Presidential visits. Events of all sizes and scope have benefited from the expertise and equipment of Allan and his crews.

Personal

Enjoying the excitement of new challenges and new problems to solve, Allan's outside interests also include sports and travel. He has enjoyed extensive family camping experiences and has traveled and worked throughout the United States and in several foreign countries. He has been married for over thirty-five years and has three children and two wonderful grandchildren.

Allan's education includes a B.S. in Management and Marketing, graduate courses in Business Management and extensive on-the-job training in the film and video business over a period of thirty-five years. He has been trained as an Emergency Medical Technician.
